Peace in Passing by Mindy Love
Today it was made apparent that death will come for us all. Every person and every creature. Today, I sat with, loved on, brushed, sang to, and read a book to a dying horse. I gave him water with a sponge, told him how loved he was and cleaned his hoofs for the last time. I cried for him. I followed my inner spirit to do all the things I could in my power to bring him comfort in his last hours. It was a honor to be the comfort he needed until the vet could arrive.
He was beautiful boy with a sweet spirit. The exact kind of spirit that resonates with me. As I continue on this journey, called life, I choose to remember how precious life is. I want to always live in the moment, where I find myself. You see, I wasn’t planning on spending time with a dying horse. I had planned to go riding on another horse. When I arrived, I didn’t know his condition. But once I knew, I chose him. I could have done 10 other things today, but he was my first choice.
I encourage you to do the same. To let go of the things we can’t control. To love those who are with us today. The ones who are right in front of us. And begin with you. Love you. Get to know you fully. Embrace the magnificent creature you are. Then, be okay with those who are leaving us. It in, in fact, the circle of life. On this journey, many will come and go, but your people, YOUR people will stay and uplift you.
